About Direct North

There is something grounding about stepping into the outdoors. The crisp Arctic air in your lungs, the crunch of snow underfoot, or the stillness of a forest that has stood for centuries. Out here in Northern Sweden, nature has a subtle way of stripping away the noise of daily life and helping us reconnect, with the earth, with each other, and with ourselves.

Living in Rhythm with the North

We started as a Dutch family that fell in love with the North and now lives, works, and plays in Piteå, Swedish Lapland.

Our days are guided by the seasons: the deep dark of winter illuminated by the northern lights, the energy of our huskies eager to hit the trail, the long, golden nights of the midnight sun, and the quiet trails through endless forests.

Direct North grew out of our own daily life. We love this landscape, and together with our team, we are passionate about sharing the vast nature and wonders of Swedish Lapland.

Our Approach to the Outdoors

When we step into nature together, we are guided by our principles that encourage us to explore freely. Always in a safe, comfortable, and respectful way

Growth Through Discovery

We believe that stepping out into nature, and pushing our comfort zones just a little bit, helps us grow. The wilderness invites us to test our boundaries and return feeling stronger and more grounded.

Wisdom & Context

Guided by curiosity and local knowledge, we share the history, wildlife, and natural world around us. Understanding the story of the land allows you to pause, look closer, and be amazed by nature and its wonders.

Connection & Respect

In Sweden, Allemansrätten (the Right to Roam) gives us the freedom to wander freely through the wild. But with that freedom comes deep responsibility. We can explore almost anywhere, but only in a respectful way. By slowing down to truly observe, listen, and learn about what lives, grows, and has been here for centuries, the respect you hold for nature naturally grows alongside your connection to it.

Care & Safety

True freedom in the wild comes from knowing you are prepared and supported. We take care of every practical detail with warmth, care, and attentive guidance, making sure you and your family can explore with peace of mind.

Nature Belongs to Everyone

With having children ourselves, we know that being in nature isn’t about rushing to accomplish a massive physical feat. Sometimes, the best part of the day is sitting around an open fire, listening to the crackle of wood, and sharing a warm drink after a walk.

We firmly believe that the outdoors is for every generation. Whether you are five years old or seventy-five, the wilderness has something quiet and wonderful to offer you. We keep our groups small and our pace gentle, making sure everyone feels welcome and cared for.

Who is behind Direct North

Direct North started with our family. But taking care of you in the wild takes a dedicated crew of passionate outdoorspeople and a pack of very happy huskies.
