Unfortunately, we do not rent out the base layers. We do have snowsuits (outer layer), boots, gloves, and hats for you to rent during your entire stay or borrow during the tour.

How to dress for winter in Swedish Lapland?
That classic Swedish proverb “Det finns inget dåligt väder, bara dåliga kläder” (“There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing”), is the absolute rule of Northern living.
The Three-Layer System for your body
- Layer 1: Base Layer (Moisture Control)
- Goal: Keep your skin dry.
- What to wear: Long pants and a long-sleeve shirt made of merino wool or high-performance synthetics.
- Golden Rule: Avoid cotton entirely. Cotton absorbs sweat, holds moisture, and turns into a freezer pack against your skin the moment you stop moving.
- Layer 2: Mid Layer (Insulation)
- Goal: Trap body heat and warm air.
- What to wear: A fleece sweater, a lightweight down jacket, or a thick wool jumper. This layer holds onto the heat your body generates while letting moisture pass through.
- Layer 3: Outer Layer (The Shield)
- Goal: Protect against wind, snow, and moisture.
- What to wear: Windproof and water-resistant winter pants and jacket. Mid-layers do the thermal heavy lifting, while the shell stops harsh subarctic coastal winds from stealing that trapped heat.
- Tip: Make sure this layers provides enough room to layer up.
Protecting your extremities is very important, as your body naturally pulls blood flow away from your hands and feet to warm your core.
- Feet
- Gear: High-grade wool socks paired with insulated winter boots.
- Tip: Always size up. Squeezing into tight boots restricts blood circulation and creates cold toes instantly. Trapped air space inside a roomier boot is the actual insulator that keeps your feet warm.
- Hands
- Gear: Mittens always beat fingered gloves. Keeping your fingers together allows them to share heat.
- Tip: Double up on layers. Wear thin wool liner mittens underneath oversized, windproof outer mittens. This keeps your hands warm even if you briefly take off the outer shell to use a phone or camera.
- Head & Neck
- Gear: A thick beanie (mössa) that fully covers your ears, paired with a fleece or wool neck gaiter.
- Tip: Ditch traditional scarves in favor of a neck gaiter. A gaiter seals the cold air out completely and can easily be pulled up over your nose and cheekbones when subarctic winds pick up.
If you need any help with finding the right clothes, we are more then happy to help you! With some tours use of our winter overalls are included. But you are also more then welcome to rent the winter clothing and boots for your entire stay. Feel free to contact us for all information.

Are children welcome on the Multiple day hike?
Yes and No. We also go out on multiple day hikes with our young kids, but with the focus on the experience and not the distance. So in our eyes it will all depends on your wishes. Is the snowshoe tour suitable for children?
Yes! Children usually love walking on deep snow with special shoes. We have special kid snowshoes availble, but it is good to mention shoesize during the booking.
Because snowshoeing requires a bit more effort than regular walking, we generally recommend our standard hikes for children aged 8 and up. If you have younger kids, contact us and we can arrange a tailored, shorter family route and arrange carriers if necessary.

Where do we eat our meals?
It depends entirely on the weather and the tour! We always prioritize your comfort and safety while ensuring you get an authentic taste of Lapland.
Depending on the conditions, your lunch will be served in one of three settings:
- Beautiful Wooden Grill Hut: For our dogsledding tours, we have a gorgeous, traditional wooden hut available. It is the perfect, warm retreat where you can sit comfortably, escape the winter chill, and enjoy a relaxed, seated lunch around a fire.
- Out on the Trail: If the weather let us, we love to eat directly out on the trail! Swedish Lapland has a wonderful scenic grilling spots, open-fire pits, and wind-shelters. Our guides know the absolute best spots with the most beautiful views to pause, build a fire, and cook.
- A Cozy Local Restaurant (Our Weather Backup): While we love outdoor dining, safety and comfort always come first. If the weather turns exceptionally harsh—such as extreme cold or pouring rain—we will pivot to a local restaurant along our route instead. We carefully select partners that match the quality of our tours so you can still enjoy a fantastic, meal in complete comfort.

What kind of food is served for lunch?
We are proud to serve authentic, local food that reflects the culinary heritage of Swedish Lapland.
Our signature lunch include:
- Suovas (for Dogsledding): A traditional Sámi specialty of lightly smoked reindeer meat, sautéed over an open fire and served in soft flatbread with wild lingonberries.
- Trail Cooking (for Snowmobiling, Ice Fishing & Snowshoeing): Meals prepared partly or fully over an open fire like a stew, grill sausages or pancakes.
When you have booked an entire holiday inclduing meals, we make sure we do not repeat any dishes. This way you have the possibility to try and experience different flavours along the week.
