For alpine skiing in Piteå, there is one central area where all the action happens. That is Vallsberget (part of Lindbäcksstadion sports complex).
Since the region along the Gulf of Bothnia is relatively flat, this local hill is highly cherished. It offers excellent facilities for families, beginners, and snowboarders or skiers looking to spend a few hours on the slopes.
Vallsberget (Lindbäcksstadion)
Located just a 10- to 15-minute drive west of central Piteå, Vallsberget is a compact but very well-maintained ski area. It is fully managed and run by the passionate volunteers of the local ski club.
There are 2 to 3 slopes that runs of varying difficulty levels (green/blue for beginners to red for more experienced skiers). The longest run is about 650 meters with a modest but fun vertical drop of 110 meters.
For the Kids there is a separate, highly child-friendly beginner slope featuring a covered magic carpet. This is a safe and comfortable environment for children taking their very first turns.
For snowboarders and freestyle skiers, a small fun park is usually set up with a few rails, boxes, and jumps.

If you are looking for more challenging terrain, longer runs, or off-piste skiing, you can easily make a day trip from Piteå to some of the larger ski resorts in neighboring municipalities:
- Kåbdalis (Jokkmokk): About a 1.5-hour drive. This is an incredibly popular and snow-sure resort that is often one of the first in Sweden to open its slopes (usually in early November).
- Storklinten (Boden): About a 1-hour and 15-minute drive. A beautiful, larger family-oriented resort offering a wider variety of groomed slopes and activities.
