Is it possible to travel by train to Piteå?
Not directly to Piteå but it is possible to travel by train towards Luleå. When you arrived in Luleå, a transfers can be arranged towards this area or you can travel by bus instead.
Can you drive a car on the roads during winter?
Yes you can! All renatal cars are equipt with good winter tires to drive on the roads. the roads are maintained very well. Ofcourse you always need to keep an eye out for wild animals and icy conditions.
But something very unique and cool thing driving in winter is that you can drive on the ice. In our area you have special ice roads for cars. These roads are usually opened at the end of January or the beginning of February. They lead into the archipelago, which means you are driving on the sea! This is a highly recommended experience. What is the best way to travel to Swedish Lapland in winter?
The best way to travel to Swedish Lapland in winter time is by flight or train. Piteå is located about 45 minutes from Luleå airport or train station. The other option is Skellefteå aiport, then it takes about 1h and 20 minutes to get to Piteå.
